Our orchids like a porous soil which should be evenly slightly damp. Every normal garden soil is suited, if it is porous and friable. A very sandy soil that dries out quickly may be improved by the addition of granulated clay. A heavy, loamy soil should be made more permeable by the addition of sand and/or fine grit.
